Chinese investors becomes major player on U.S. real estate market

Not only residential properties, but also commercial properties in the US are attracting huge foreign investments, most notably from Chinese investors who have replaced Canadians as the largest foreign buyers in the US real estate market. Compared to properties in China, a very important selling point besides the comparable price advantage of US real estate to Chinese buyers is that they can own the land forever besides the property itself while in China the buyer can only purchase the property but can never own the land. Chinese people have purchased strip malls, office buildings, hotels in various places in the US. Community is one of the most important considerations when they shop around. This investment spree has brought a general economic growth in the US. And the popular EB-5 immigration program, which Chinese people accounted for 85% in 2014, requires the investor to create at least 10 jobs in the local market. Read more here.
