California dreamin' for Chinese investors in US

Chinese companies made $15 billion investment in the US last year, and this number could double this year. The investment include real estate projects, high-tech companies and entertainment giants. California, which has attracted $8 billion from China since 2000, is most favored by Chinese investors. Now there are 452 companies owned by Chinese in the state employing over 9,500 people. Although the political climate in the US doesn't help, it's expected that Chinese investment will continue to be strong in the future. Why? If domestic economy in China is still booming, people will have loose cash to make strategic investment and vanity purchase abroad; If the Chinese economy is going down, we'll see more capital flight to safe heaven disguised as overseas investment.
