Chinese investors in Orlando

More and more Chinese are looking to invest in Florida. Orlando seems to be a popular area.  The business magazine interviewed East-West Property and published an article.  Below are some of key points:

Overall, the Orlando real estate market has been performing well over the last few years.  This area was hit hard during the financial crisis of 2008-2009 and saw a major correction including many foreclosures.  Over the last few years, property prices in Orlando have been climbing steadily and the number of distressed sales has continued to come down.

Chinese are often interested in investing in single family houses or town houses.  There are of course also Chinese investors who rather invest in a condo as that could be easier to manage remotely,  In either case, both condos and houses have done well in Orlando over the last 12 months. Condo prices increased 15% over the last 12 months versus an increase of 10% for houses.  The median price of condos sold is approximately 162,000 USD. A typical condo in Orlando is approximately 1370 square feet in size and has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The median prices of houses sold is approximately 252,000 USD. A typical house in Orlando is 2116 square feet and has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
