Effects of China passing Hong Kong national security law

Hongkongers looking for overseas real estateChina has passed a national security law in Hong Kong.  This would criminalize offences such as secession and subversion.  This may have a major impact on Hong Kong, a city that has enjoyed a quasi-autonomous regime.  

Over the last few months, several media reports have been reporting that Hongkongers have become increasingly worried about this new law and have accelerated their interest in buying overseas homes and applied for other passports.   Many Hong Kong citizens believe that it is better to buy a house overseas in case the implementation of this law effects their own personal life.
