Foreign buyers of US real estate: by the numbers

It's obvious that international buyers are pouring money into US real estate. Here is some more details about how much money was invested and who is the main investor for different areas. Over $85 billion was spent by foreign investors in US commercial real estate in the past year. And $19.1 billion has already been spent in US commercial real estate this year. In 2016, Chinese buyers spent most with $7.68 billion, and Canadian takes the second place in volume with $1.22 billion. Disproportionately, 22% was spent in New York City. It seems investors from different countries have different favors for target areas. Chinese, German, South Korean and Janpanese like Manhattan. Singapore investors favor Los Angeles and Phoenix. Swiss buyers prefer Portland, and UK investors eye Philadelphia. Read more here.
